Notice to Pro Competitors - Local Rules
Play is governed by the Rules of Golf of the United States Golf Association and, where applicable, by the Local Rules and definitions, subject to change for this event by the Rules Committee. The Committee and Rules Officials for this event are Jason Sudenga, PGA Vice President of Golf and Drew Trautman, PGA Head Golf Professional. Players must get rulings only from members of the Committee.
TEES: Championship Flight – GOLD TEES
Flighted Players – BLUE TEES
Senior Flight (55 over) – WHITE TEES
LIMITATION ON GOLF BALLS – (One Ball Rule) Appx. 1 is NOT in effect.
FORMAT: 18-hole stroke play event. If there is a tie in Championship Flight, there will be a playoff starting on Hole #1 right after the last card is turned in. Any other ties in any flight will split money.
DISTANCE MEASURING DEVICES: Please note, the use of distance measuring devices, including GPS based systems and laser rangefinders, ARE allowed during play.
DISCONTINUANCE OF PLAY: Rule 6-8. See evacuation Plan
- For a suspension in a dangerous situation – one prolonged siren sound
- To resume play – two short siren sounds, repeated
SCORING AREA: The scoring area is in the golf shop at the Willow Run Clubhouse. Please return your scorecard as soon as you finish play. Players not returning a card will be listed as “NC”.
ADNORMAL GROUND CONDITIONS: The following areas are deemed as “abnormal ground conditions” from which players will be granted relief. Proceed in accordance with Rule 25-1b.
- Areas circled in white paint.
- If your ball lies on any sod seams you may take free relief, no closer to the hole.
OUT OF BOUNDS: Out of bounds is defined by white stakes on holes 2, 7, 8 10, 14, 17 and 18.OB. On holes 2 & 11 out of bounds is marked by the fence line. The Willow Run Open will NOT be adopting the new USGA local rule governing an alternative form of out of bounds procedures.
POWER LINES: If your shot hits a power line the shot MUST be replayed.
PACE OF PLAY: Play is expected to be 2 hours 10 minutes per 9 holes. You will be considered out of position if: 1. You are not within the time limits above and there is an open hole in front of you. THIS IS YOUR WARNING!!! Any group out of position will be warned and will have three holes to catch up. If you do not catch up there will be a 2-stroke penalty for each person in the group.
